Stephanie Thomson has signed a 360 marketing/distribution agreement with Jeff Burns/Blue Sapphire Music, a record label with distribution through Universal Records.
Stephanie’s new adult contemporary/inspirational pop album is to hopefully hit shelves by October 2010, with the single, 'It'll Be Alright' hitting radio stations across Canada in mid August. The new 14 track album entitled, 'Second Chances' has been in the works for the last 5 years with a 14 chapter romance novel based on Stephanie’s true experiences & survival in a domestically abusive to follow. Written in third party format, she shares her hope, faith and strength with the purpose of shedding victims from their chains in the cycle of abuse; she hopes to give a real perspective to outsiders who cast their judgment on such victims. The book and music coincide with her real life blended family of 7 kids (including 3 step kids) and her re-marriage. ‘Second Chances’ is just that; A second chance at life.
Stephanie has written the majority of the album with 5 of the 14 songs penned by herself and Grammy Award Winning Songwriter, Tommy Sims, (Change The World, Eric Clapton). Also co-writing with Stephanie is Rob James (McMaster & James; Canadian Idol finalist) and JJ Voss. Other songs include hit writers such as Jason McCoy, Denny Carr and Gerald O'Brien.
Stephanie will be in the Regina Symphony Orchestra Singing Star Contest on Wednesday May 12th. The audience will cast their vote, and the winner gets to perform with the RSO in the 2010/11 Season. Tickets are at Casino Regina Box office.
Applause Feast & Folly Venue Ownership
On top of Stephanie's busy schedule, she is going to be the new owner/manager of the Applause Feast 7 Folly Dinner Theatre on May 1st. Stephanie plans on turning Applause into more than dinner theatre; she’s going to be holding concerts for recording artists as well as indie bands. Good friend JJ Voss is organizing Indie Band Nights in June on Wednesdays:
June 9th features The Bystanders, The Dustin Ritter Band and JJ Voss. Come out and support your indie.
Stephanie's album release party will be held at Applause Feast & Folly Theatre in late October 2010.
Previous Country Career
Stephanie's previous albums were all country, charting in the top ten songs at radio and bringing her three videos on CMT and Much More Music, and bringing her multiple awards such as female vocalist of the year, band of the year, humanitarian of the year and video of the year at the Saskatchewan County Music Awards. She was also nominated for 'Best New Artist' at the RPM Canadian awards.
Stephanie has been the only female show tour producer to win over ten military tenders with her production company, 'Paige Productions' where she lead casts of 15 stars overseas to entertain the toops in war torn countries such as Bosnia, Egypt, Isreal and the peaceful, yet freezing North Pole in Alert, Nunavit. Casts included Canadian celebrities such as Alan Frew of Glass Tiger, Sue Medley, Michael Kaeshammer, The Wilkinson's & The Johner Brothers. Over the years, Stephanie has opened for major stars such as Tanya Tucker, Merle Haggard, Martina McBride, Dwight Yokam, Sammy Kershaw, Marty Stewart, Vince Gill, Johnny Cash, The Dixie Chicks and many others at concerts and festivals. She has joined the local show of the 'Huron Carole' with Tom Jackson twice, and has headlined her own show in front of tens of thousands at the Calgary Stampede.
Bjorn Again as Lead Singer/Dancer/Actress ‘Agnetha’ (ABBA)
Stephanie's recording career took a bit of a break in the last 5 years as Stephanie beat out thousands of auditions across North America to become the lead singer/dancer/actress of the International Abba Tribute Band, 'Bjorn Again'. She has toured and continues to tour around Europe and North America including Mexico. With this show, Stephanie opened for Nathalie Imbruglia, The Beach Boys, Sheryl Crowe.
One of Stephanie’s fondest and most memorable moments was performing at a major gala in Toronto where she walked the red carpet with Sir Richard Branson famed of Virgin products globally.
Personal Life
As well as singing, Stephanie is a mother of 4 children, aged 15 months, 13, 16 and 18 and step mom to 3 kids.
You can see Stephanie and her daughter Alexandra currently starring in a dinner theatre production called, 'Nerds Anonymous', a musical comedy in the basement of the Regina Inn.
